What’s robbing you of your joy series-Faith

Restlessness and impatience change nothing except our peace and joy. Peace does not dwell in outward things, but in the heart prepared to wait trustfully and quietly on Him who has all things safely in His hands.- Elisabeth Elliot

As I look around in this crazy world we live in, I see so many people, even Christians, that just seem to have lost the joy in their lives. So I thought that I’d sort of touch base on some of the things that take the peace and contentment out of our lives, and today I want to start with faith. Some of the other joy-stealers we’ll be looking at soon are lack of rest, coveting, anger, and if you have others you can think of, let me know.

I thought I’d share the opening quote I saw today because it’s something I’m really struggling with at this phase in my life. I see so many things slipping away that Satan uses it to plant seeds of doubt and discord in my mind. We all struggle with this, and so have most great Biblical leaders. So if you’re struggling with something today, stop and rethink your concerns and pray for the strength to put them in proper Biblical perspective. I have posted some verses below that I hope will help you to regain the faith and reestablish the peace in your heart that jesus wants you to have. May the Lord fill your heart with love and comfort today, and if He has, pass it on to someone else.

What Jesus Said About Peace

Matthew 5:9  “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Matthew 11:28-30  Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will havetribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 20:19  On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them,  “Peace be with you.”

Things You Can Do To Increase Peace

  • Prayer

Philippians 4:6-7  do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  • Serving Christ

Romans 14:17-19 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.

  • Love

2 Corinthians 13:11  Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

  • Obedience

1 Peter 1:2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:  May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

  • Trust

Isaiah 12:2  “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”

  • Faith

Romans 5:1  Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
