What do you think of parents who are supporting a transgender 6YEAR OLD?

The story of Ryland and the amazing thing that his family did for him is sweeping the Internet and attracting national attention.

Ryland, who lives in San Diego, California, knew at a very young age that he was not a girl, despite being born that way.

At first, Ryland’s parents – Jeff and Hillary Whittington – assumed it was a phase. Their child, who was a girl biologically, simply preferred boy toys and enjoyed dressing up as Spider Man versus a Disney princess.

But then one day, Ryland said, “When the family dies, I will cut my hair so I can be a boy” and asked through tears, “Why did God make me this way?” That is when Ryland’s parents did an amazing thing.

They accepted it.

They cut Ryland’s hair, they bought him new clothes, they even replaced his bedroom furniture. Not only that, they announced it to their families and friends, costing them some relationships in the process.

Ryland’s parents said that when they began to research Ryland’s situation, they discovered that transgender people are nearly 10 times more likely to attempt suicide than the national average. They are determined not to let that happen to Ryland.

A video about the family was screened at the Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast earlier this month, according to the San Diego LGBT Weekly. The family was there to accept an Inspiration Award.

Ryland, who was also born deaf, is now six years old and is obviously a very happy little boy.
