A Canadian pro-life organization is calling on pro-lifers around the world to join in a national day of prayer and fasting for Canada as it re-enters a time of debating abortion.

“Prayer is the most powerful way to bring about peace and a respect for the greatness and dignity of human life, no matter what its stage of development, its creed, or its nationality. Fasting solidifies our resolve to make these things happen with God’s help,” stated the national pro-life education organization LifeCanada in a press release about the Friday, August 1 event.

The organization says the request for prayer comes at a time when an abortion storm is currently sweeping across the nation.

The rumbling thunderclouds appeared in May when Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau declared that only pro-choice candidates would be allowed to run in the party’s nominations for the 2015 federal election. Mr. Trudeau went on to state that party members would be whipped to vote pro-abortion if the matter was to come up.

“Political party leaders have trampled on the rights of Canadians by enforcing pro-abortion policies within their parties, thereby dictating over matters of conscience,” says LifeCanada.

The storm intensified when the abortion movement in the Maritimes used the purported closure of a private abortion clinic in New Brunswick to pressure the government into funding the procedure in private clinics, not just in hospitals. Now with a provincial election happening in September, abortion is at the top of the agenda.

Adding to the storm’s intensity is an international conference on abortion to be hosted in August in Prince Edward Island, the only province where abortions are not performed. Titled “Abortion: The Unfinished Revolution,” the conference seeks to promote the cultural and political acceptance of abortion.

LifeCanada sees prayer as a remedy against abortion increasing in Canada.

“Prayer has always been a means of defending the most innocent. Prayer is a great civilizer – it brings about forgiveness, understanding, healing and the grace to see life from the perspective of God Himself.”

Those who would like to participate in the event are asked to devote themselves to prayer and fasting on Friday, August 1 in “whatever way you can.” LifeCanada is encouraging people who participate in the event to send an email of support to info@lifecanada.org.

BabyMSNBC News….A counselor at a New Jersey women’s clinic says she filmed her own abortion to show that the procedure is “safe” and to help support other women through the process.

Emily Letts, a 25-year-old former professional actress, had been working at the Cherry Hill Women’s Center for about a year when she learned in November that she was pregnant. In a column for Cosmopolitan posted this week, Letts writes that it was her first pregnancy — an unplanned one — and she had no long-term partner.

“I knew I wasn’t ready to take care of a child,” Letts wrote.

Letts said she decided to have an abortion at her own clinic. It was early in the pregnancy, about two to three weeks, she said. Having searched online herself and been unable to find a video of what the procedure actually looks like, she decided to film it — in part to educate other women who feared it.

“A first trimester abortion takes three to five minutes. It is safer than giving birth. There is no cutting, and risk of infertility is less than 1 percent,” Letts wrote. “Yet women come into the clinic all the time terrified that they are going to be cut open, convinced that they won’t be able to have kids after the abortion. The misinformation is amazing.”

The anti-abortion group New Jersey Right to Life said Tuesday “it’s truly sad that an aspiring actress would use this venue” to achieve notoriety.

“Ending a pregnancy through the violence of abortion is not compassionate and is never safe for the defenseless baby who is torn to bits in his or her mother’s womb,” said executive director Marie Tasy.

Letts said she opted for a surgical abortion with local anesthesia and no IV sedation because she wanted to experience the type of procedure women considering abortions most feared and to be able to better relate to the women who visited the Cherry Hill clinic seeking her help and advice.

The video, which she posted on Facebook, is not graphic and shows Letts humming throughout the quick procedure. She says she received some hateful feedback, but also some that was positive.

She says she hoped to inspire other women to not feel guilty about making the decision to have an abortion.

“Our society breeds this guilt. We inhale it from all directions. Even women who come to the clinic completely solid in their decision to have an abortion say they feel guilty for not feeling guilty,” Letts wrote. “I didn’t feel bad … and I am grateful that I can share my story and inspire other women to stop the guilt.”

Nine-hundred and fifteen pink crosses filled the lawn in front of the U.S. Capitol building this Halloween day.

Rev. Pat Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, told CBN News why.

“We billed this as ‘what’s the most scary thing in Washington D.C. Today?’ The most scary thing is our government gives $540 million to an organization that kills 915 children a day. That’s over 335,000 a year,” Mahoney said.

The organization getting all those taxpayer dollars is Planned Parenthood, which aborts one child every 95 seconds.

Missy Martinez, with Students for Life, helped set up the 915 crosses marking Planned Parenthood’s daily abortions.

“Once you see that visual you realize how many it really is,” Martinez said as she stuck cross after cross into the Capitol Hill grounds.

“Because you hear the number 915 and you say, ‘Yeah that’s big.’ But you see the actual layout of 915 crosses and it’s just very sobering,” she said. “It hurts your heart when you realize it’s that many children that die every day from abortion.”

And that’s just at Planned Parenthood.

Along with the Christian Defense Coalition, Students for Life put on this display: important because student-aged Americans are the main customers for abortion. But they are also the biggest opponents, the pro-life movement‘s hope for the future.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life, talked to CBN News about today’s college age generation.

“This is the generation that’s being directly targeted by Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry,” Hawkins said. “Ironically, though, this is the generation that is pro-life. They’re the least likely to actually favor abortion because we’ve seen the 3D ultrasounds of our brothers and sisters in the womb.”

“We all know what partial birth abortion is,” she continued. “So we see abortion differently than previous generations.”

Pro-lifers young and old keep talking about Planned Parenthood and its monumental amount of abortions because most Americans still don’t know about it.

“Sixty percent of the American public has no idea that Planned Parenthood provides abortions, let alone it’s the largest abortion provider in the world,” Mahoney said.

And that’s in a country where more than 70 percent of its citizens say they’re against taxpayer funding of abortions.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified on Capitol Hill Wednesday that she’s not sure about abortion funding under Obamacare.

Hawkins smirked at that claim.

“Abortions are covered under Obamacare and taxpayers are going to be funding it,” she stated. “But what’s really interesting is the secretary herself wrote a memo this April demanding that all insurance providers cover Planned Parenthood and their services in the health insurance exchanges.”

These pro-life groups wanted to make sure they put up the 915 crosses on the Capitol grounds because it’s Congress that actually funds whatever government pays for.

“We’re saying, ‘Look, 915 children die a day because of Planned Parenthood and you helped do it. You help fund this organization,'” she said.

“And under Obamacare the tragedy is that money to Planned Parenthood will only increase,” Mahoney added.

Mahoney mentioned that the House of Representatives, which is majority pro-life, could defund Planned Parenthood any day it wants to.

A professor in a world-acclaimed medical school once posed this medical situation — and ethical problem — to his students: “Here’s the family history: The father has syphilis. The mother has TB. They already have had four children. The first is blind. The second had died. The third is deaf. The fourth has TB. Now the mother is pregnant again, The parents come to you for advice. They are willing to have an abortion, if you decide they should. What do you say?”

The students gave various individual opinions, and then the professor asked them to break into small groups for “consultation.” All of the groups came back to report that they would recommend abortion.

“Congratulations,” the professor said, “You just took the life of Beethoven!”

Psalm 139:13-16 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

Elevated Baby (6-12 Months)You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.—Psalm 139:13

“You are not an accident.” That’s what Rick Warren says in one of his books. He goes on: “Your birth was no mistake or mishap, and your life is no fluke of nature. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. He was not at all surprised by your birth. In fact, he expected it.”

God expected us because he made us! While we were in our mother’s womb, God himself shaped and molded us. The hands of God carefully crafted each of us in his own image.

Our existence is not an accident of nature. You and I are God’s creatures, made in his image, and because of that every human life is sacred.

When the United States Supreme Court legalized abortion on demand 40 years ago today, it ignored the fact that to abort an unborn child is to push away the hands of God and to interfere with the work of his creation. To abort an unborn child is to say “no” to God’s creative design. To abuse or neglect a child created in God’s image, or even to look the other way, is to forget that every human life is sacred.

You and I are special. We are not an accident. God himself made each one of us in his image to fulfill his plan in our lives.

Make sure you try to discover God’s plan for you!

Prayer:

Father in heaven, thank you for creating us in your image. Help us to remember that we are special, and help us to seek your plan for our lives. Amen.
